Celebrate Norfolk Day with our Coastal Refresher
Norfolk Day has become a highlight in the county’s calendar and, to help raise spirits this year, we’ve teamed up with Bond to create a cocktail that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Norfolk.
What is Norfolk Day?
Spearheaded by the EDP, Norwich Evening News and BBC Radio Norfolk, Norfolk Day is an annual event which aims to celebrate everything exceptional about this beautiful county.
After what has been a difficult year for most of us, there is more reason than ever to celebrate with the people you love. And what better way to celebrate this fine county than to raise a toast with a bottle of Bullards?

A Taste of Norfolk
Inspired by the coastal paths, where pine forests meet marshlands and vast sandy coastline, our Coastal gin has a delicate, salty influence that’s complemented by bright citrus flavours.
The rich woodiness of Douglas fir pine compliments the central juniper, whilst hand-foraged sea purslane, marsh samphire and sea aster give you the distinct fresh coastal flavour, an almost brine-like viscosity and a hint of salinity.
As a true taste of Norfolk, we couldn’t help but ask our friends at Bond to create something special for Norfolk Day using our Coastal gin.
The Coastal Refresher
Inspired by the Norfolk Coast, this refreshing cocktail uses a combination of ingredients that are easy to find, can be sourced locally and most importantly – beautifully compliments our Coastal gin. The basil adds a fresh, aromatic flavour which brings out the subtle saltiness of the gin, perfect for a sunny afternoon in the garden. This is the ideal at-home recipe as it’s built in the glass and you can tailor it to your preference – add more sugar for sweetness or more lemon for an extra zing!
Ingredients:
- Basil Leaves
- Lemon Slices
- 25ml Lemon Juice
- 25ml Simple Sugar Syrup (2:1 ratio of sugar to water)
- 50ml Bullards Coastal Gin
- Soda Water
To Garnish:
- Lemon Slice
- Basil Sprig
- Norfolk Berries
Recipe:
Place 3-4 basil leaves in your tumbler or highball and add lemon juice before filling the glass halfway with ice. Add lemon slices, sugar syrup and a large measure of Coastal Gin. Give it a good stir before adding more ice and topping with soda. Garnish with a lemon slice, basil sprig and a handful of local Norfolk berries and you’re good to go!
